January Billing and Trash Service Changes

Due to some technical errors, it has been brought to our attention many of you have not received your bill due on January 15th. We are not going to be applying late fees this month as a result and a second batch of bills is going to be mailed out today. Anyone who has emailed in to receive a copy of their bill, will be getting a reply today.
The city hall phones are still down temporarily due to an outage. BTC is notified and aware of the urgency to get this issue fixed. Some calls are going through, and some are not. All online accounts should show a valid January bill as of 8 a.m. this morning.
The following letter informing residents of trash service changes will also be sent out again today….
Dear Residents and Business Owners,
We are reaching out to inform you about upcoming changes to our trash service, which will go into effect on January 14, 2025.
New Polycart System
As part of these improvements, the Town of Mounds has provided each household with a new 96-gallon polycart for trash collection. Starting in January this polycart will be the only container used for trash pickup and trash pickup will move from twice a week (Tuesday and Friday) to once a week on Tuesdays. Personal trash cans or other containers will no longer be serviced. The cost of the polycart is already included in your current trash service fees—there will be no increase in your monthly rate.
If your household generates more trash and needs additional polycarts, you can rent extra carts from the town. Simply contact Town Hall to make arrangements.
Residential Trash Service Changes
To better manage service efficiency, residential trash pickup will move from twice a week (Tuesday and Friday) to once a week on Tuesdays. Please make sure to have your polycart at the curb on the scheduled pickup day.
Commercial Trash Service
For our business community, there will be no changes. Commercial trash will continue to be collected twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Why These Changes?
These changes are necessary to address rising costs and ensure a more efficient and effective trash collection system for the entire town. The use of the new polycarts will also allow the trash service to better identify who is actively using the service and ensure consistency across the community.
What You Need to Do:
Ensure that your new polycart is used for all trash pickup starting January 1st.
If you need additional polycarts, contact City Hall to arrange a rental.
Residential customers should have their polycart out by Tuesday mornings by 7am for weekly pickup.
